Michael's primary area of interest is leadership development at Senior Management Level. His current focus concerns the leadership and management behaviours that senior people must display if they are to be truly effective. The apparent paradoxes fascinate him.

A seven year career as an Officer in the Royal Engineers encouraged Michael to demonstrate practical leadership skills during training and active service; at the age of 25, he found himself commanding 150 men on operational duty. Subsequently he was instrumental in introducing new professional development process and practices for Officers in the Regular and Reserve forces. He began the transition to civilian life by completing a MSc in Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

The recognition that it is people who create success prompted Michael to focus on personal and team development. His interest is primarily channeled into the understanding of leadership in business, specifically how leaders must create the intellectual, behavioural and emotional conditions for their teams to deliver value. To support his work, Michael has developed a unique expertise in the measurement of performance and change, designing tailored 360 degree feedback, team effectiveness, and personal energy diagnostic tools for clients in a variety of industries. He reinforces his use of measurement techniques with a high level of expertise in coaching, being especially fond of MBTI and FIRO B.

Michael's recent clients included Nokia, Rhodia, DSM, Fortum and KPMG.

Michael relaxes by reading, or by being outdoors; swimming, cycling, leading a mountain expedition, or exploring the forest with his son Max and wife Lily.
