Tony is inspired by showing leaders how to create teams of leaders and grip their most difficult challenges.

Three years ago Tony, a chartered business psychologist and experienced facilitator, was invited into a new adventure (his “most exciting project”) to facilitate a merger of two regions of an agency (East and West Africa) containing 500 staff and spanning 11 countries. Despite the great physical distances and the strong cultural barriers, Tony brought 30 leaders through a difficult transition, fully awakening them to their new reality, until with eyes sparkling they joined together as a team, then through a further struggle eventually to transform their relationship to 500 staff.

With 20 years as a facilitator and coach in corporate change projects, he has also delivered payment systems, organisation design, strategy, branding, market research, skills training and performance improvement, gaining familiarity with the people and practices in telecoms, engineering, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, financial services and government.

A happy fruition of his early career was his book “Diary of a Change Agent”, acclaimed for its insightful reflections on how to facilitate, lead and learn through change. His new book “From Hippos to Gazelles: How Leaders Create Leaders” (co-authored with his client Philip Goodwin) offers to leaders of mergers and change programmes the approach and practical tools which have built Tony’s reputation for outstanding work with top teams and executive boards.

Tony met Helen his wife more than 30 years ago at Nottingham University and they have since been active leaders in their local schools and community. With their two children now grown up, Tony has time to keep fit with running and cycling, and together they both enjoy much simpler things: walking, reading, travelling, chatting with friends.
